SI ADELAIDE

FRIENDSHIPS
Meeting of members of Friendship Link clubs
Seated with Marrion Saunders and Lesley Jaensch in front of the SI Centenary tree

On 11th February 2022, I met up with Marrion Saunders and Lesley Jaensch, members of SI Adelaide. We visited the picturesque Veale Gardens where the members had planted a tree to commemorate SI’s Centenary.

An explanatory plaque was attached to a seat nearby. I had the privilege of being driven around Adelaide to view the various prominent structures and learn more about the city. Over coffee at the serene Glenelg beach, we shared information on our club projects.

I was invited to SI Adelaide Club Business Meeting at the National Council of Women (NCW) House scheduled for the 14th of February where I had the opportunity to attend their AGM as well.

We had a speaker Rae-Anne Holloway of Aussieghana Relief who, inspired by her husband is in the process of Building Ghana’s First Women’s Shelter for victims of domestic violence. SI Adelaide members intend to identify a club in Ghana and work with them on women issues.

It was amazing to note the various projects and activities conducted by SI Adelaide members inspite the challenges imposed by the pandemic during the past two years.  It was indeed heartening to note an addition to membership with the induction of a new member Genevieve in March.

I gave a brief talk on SI Bangsar’s current project, the Teenage Survival Kit. It was well received by the members who requested for further details.
